Quarter 2 Showcase
Robot
This guy is by far my favorite thing I made this quarter. I've been thinking about his backstory for a while and putting him into new situations. I also really like the way I drew him, especially his wire arm. In the future I'm going to change how his "legs" look, but for now they work with who he is since he built some of himself and he's a little stupid.

Alien Scientist
The robots creator. He is a character I made to start and push along the robots story. His design is still really early in the process, and I'd like to tweak some things because I'm still figuring him out. His color scheme is cool though I like that, and how his scars are matching with his robot's. Later in the story as he gets more wounds he adds them to the robot.

Composite Images
This project was really fun to do because I could create any silly thing my brain came up with using the images I can find. All the pictures are taken by me, most of them over break. It was really fun to bring all that I've learned and combine it into one funky little image and I really like how it turned out.

Wizzorse and Top Rabbit
This project was fun to do because we combined different images into one. Adding shadows and making everything blend together was a little challenging but once I figured it out it went smoothly. I learned to mess with some of the colors using curves, and I've done that a few times more in other assignments.

Quarter 1 Showcase
Goblet, 3ds Max, 10/20/2023
I loved working on this one and figuring out the line splices and how to add things to it. I spent lots of time messing around with things, especially the little triangle trim around it. I also learned a different way of rendering so that the shadows didn't disappear into the background which I've used with a few other models. |
Snowman, 3ds Max, 10/20/2023
This was the 2nd project I did this quarter, and I learned more about using primitives and navigating the software. It was fun to make him leaning over and I love his goofy looking face. The most difficult part was making and moving the hat, if I was doing this now I would've grouped all 3 pieces so I could move them as one easier. I also would add more detail to the carrot on the nose, like giving it bumps and a more organic shape now that I know how. There's lots of things I have improved on since this project, but it's still one of my favorites. |
F-16, 3ds Max, 10/20/2023
I redid this one the most out of all of the projects and it's only made with one starting primitives. I kept trying out different primitives to start off with and I ended up starting with a long cylinder. It took a while, but I figured out how to make more defined shapes and now I'm able to add lots more detail to the other models and I understand more in depth about how the primitives will move. |
Shroomies and Rocks, 3ds Max, 10/20/2023
This project taught me how to merge multiple models into one scene which will be helpful when I need to make separate models that will all eventually contribute to one model. I also learned about some more modifiers that add randomness and more texture like twist and noise. MeshSmooth also helped a lot for rounding out harsh edges and making the forms more fluid and organic. |

Rolling Ball, 3ds Max, 10/20/2023
This was our first project of the unit. We had to create a super basic city with primitives and animate a ball rolling through it. I thought this one was a lot of fun because I love doing animations. I learned that with 3d animating you only need to make the key frames and then the software fills the frames in in between. So it makes it a lot less tedious than 2d animation. I didn't learn too much while making this since it was so basic, but I did learn how to navigate the software a little bit which definitely helped when I was creating my other models.
